Maharashtra Govt. Triples Salaries For Madrasa Teachers, Announces Grant Hike For Minorities

The Maharashtra government has been implementing a number of social programmes ahead of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) implementation as the election approaches.

The Maharashtra government, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has approved a proposal to increase madrasa teachers' pay throughout the state. The choice was made on Thursday during a Cabinet meeting, and it is thought to be a big step forward for the next Maharashtra Assembly Elections in 2024.


The Maharashtra government has been implementing a number of social programmes ahead of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) implementation as the election approaches.


A number of incentives for marginalised people, including as other backward classes (OBCs), tribal groups, and religious minorities, were announced during the most recent Cabinet meeting. 38 of the 80 ideas that were discussed and approved for implementation.


The state's cabinet has now also resolved to raise the pay of all these government teachers.


In addition, the Cabinet approved a large pay increase for madrasa instructors hired by the government and increased the Maulana Azad Minority Financial Development Corporation's budget from Rs. 700 crore to Rs. 1,000 crore.

Teachers with a DEd (Diploma in Education) used to get a monthly salary of Rs 6,000; this will now rise to Rs 16,000. The monthly salary of secondary-level instructors who teaches a variety of courses at the secondary level and possess a BEd or BSc-BEd certificate would also increase from Rs 8,000 to Rs 18,000.

Madrasa instructors applauded the move, believing that the pay increase would help them both financially and educationally.
