Truecaller's Founders Step Down, Rishit Jhunjhunwala Takes Over As CEO

Jhunjhunwala, who has been with the Swedish caller ID software company since 2015, currently serves as both chief product officer and MD of India division

Truecaller has named Rishit Jhunjhunwala as its new CEO, effective 9 January. Jhunjhunwala, who has been with the Swedish caller ID software company since 2015, currently serves as both chief product officer and managing director of Truecaller’s India division. He will succeed Alan Mamedi, who is stepping down from the CEO role but will remain involved with Truecaller in an advisory capacity alongside co-founder Nami Zarringhalam. The leadership transition aligns with the founders' decision to focus on long-term strategy as board members, stepping back from operational roles by mid-2025.

In his tenure with Truecaller, Jhunjhunwala has held several senior positions, starting as head of product and eventually rising to chief product officer in 2020 and managing director of the India branch in 2021. The leadership shift comes as Truecaller faces scrutiny from the Income Tax Department, which conducted raids at the company’s India offices on Thursday regarding alleged tax evasion. Truecaller has expressed full cooperation with investigators.
