Sony Pictures' MD & CEO NP Singh To Step Down

The organisation has initiated a structured succession planning process to identify his successor

On 24 May, NP Singh, Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), announced that the organisation is searching for his successor. Singh will continue in his current role until a suitable replacement is found.

In a press release, Singh stated, “Today, I have an important announcement. After nearly 44 years in my career, including a fulfilling 25 years at SPNI, I have decided to step down from my role as MD and CEO. Having achieved numerous significant milestones with our team, I am now ready to shift my focus to social change and transition from operational roles to advisory positions.”

Singh will remain at the helm of SPNI until the company appoints a new leader. The organisation has initiated a structured succession planning process to identify his successor.

Singh emphasised his continued dedication to SPNI, saying, “My commitment to SPNI and its success remains unwavering. During my tenure, we have set industry benchmarks, expanded our reach, and accomplished many significant achievements. I am committed to ensuring that our legacy of success continues and flourishes under new leadership.”

He also addressed potential speculation during the transition period, urging everyone to rely on official updates: “We are committed to providing timely and transparent information through our established channels and will communicate any definitive updates directly.”

Singh’s journey at SPNI began as CFO of Sony India in 1999, and he became CEO in 2019. He also served as the company's Chief Operating Officer (COO). An alumnus of the Delhi School of Economics, Singh holds a master's degree from the institute and a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Delhi.

Before joining SPNI, Singh held various leadership positions in finance and operations at organisations such as Modi Xerox, Spice Telecom, ModiCorp, and Hindustan Copper.
