Career Journey and Achievements

Can you share a brief overview of your career journey in the field of HR, highlighting key milestones and achievements that led to your recognition?

Throughout my tenure leading HR in a large and diversified business environment, the undeniable fact emerged that purpose-driven individuals significantly influence business outcomes. My passion lies in the realms of people, performance, and culture, propelling me to consistently strive to help individuals discover and achieve their purpose. Starting my HR journey within a leadership program, I gained exposure to critical business issues from an HR perspective. Subsequently, I transitioned into an international role, collaborating with individuals from over 60 nationalities spanning 40 countries. In my current role, I am actively contributing to a high-growth business, aligning with its ambitions and the cause of nation-building. This journey is immensely fulfilling, and I eagerly look forward to the unfolding future paradigms.

Innovations in HR Practices

What innovative HR practices or strategies have you implemented in your organisation/ career that you believe contributed to your success?

Embracing a forward-looking approach, we consistently update technology, systems, software, and processes to stay relevant in evolving times. Encouraging a culture of experimentation and acknowledging learning experiences has been instrumental in fostering candid and bold organizational environments. A strategy that has proven effective for me involves leveraging Art, Culture, and Sports within organizations to foster trusting relationships, inclusivity, and the development of winning teams. Breaking silos, encouraging cross-functional engagements and rewarding teamwork are crucial for the successful execution of any strategy.

Challenges and Learnings

Did you face any challenges in the formative years of your career and how did you overcome them? What valuable lessons have you learned along the way that you think could benefit others in the HR community?

Challenges, particularly in the early stages of one's career, are instrumental in driving individuals to capitalize on opportunities and stay agile. Since the inception of my career, I've made a deliberate effort to closely collaborate with the business and maintain a strong connection to the ground. Striking the delicate balance between representing the business to its people and vice versa, all while ensuring unity through ups and downs, became a skill I honed under the guidance of seasoned mentors. The lesson in leadership that I've imbibed is the importance of authenticity. By leading with authenticity and equanimity, deep-rooted connections are established, enabling effective leadership within organizations.

 Future of HR 

Looking ahead, how do you see the future of HR evolving and what role do you envision young professionals playing in shaping the industry?

Each generation witnesses the advent of new technologies that surprise and redefine our landscape. Presently, we find ourselves amidst the transformative impact of generative AI and emerging technologies permeating every function and role. Regardless of our generational background, continuous learning, application of knowledge, and the drive to create impact become imperative. We must proactively champion change in our respective domains, serving as catalysts for transformative shifts. Embracing the opportunities brought forth by technological revolutions is pivotal; our willingness to be a part of this evolution can be career-defining.
