IndiGo, has nominated Isidro Porqueras as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), pending regulatory approval. Porqueras will officially assume the role on 1 November, taking over from Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, who is set to retire after more than seven years of leading IndiGo’s operations. Prock-Schauer, one of the longest-serving expatriates in Indian aviation, previously held leadership positions at Jet Airways and GoAir.
Porqueras initially joined IndiGo as Chief of Transformation in April 2024. Before this, he oversaw operations at the Spanish low-cost carrier, Volotea. With over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, Porqueras brings a wealth of expertise to his new position at IndiGo.
“As we enter the next phase of our ambitious growth strategy, Isidro will collaborate closely with the leadership team to focus on key priorities. His extensive operational knowledge and proven track record of success in previous roles will be invaluable as we continue to pursue our strategic vision and expand our presence in international markets," said Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo.
IndiGo currently operates around 14,000 flights per week and holds a 62 per cent share of the Indian domestic market as of August 2024.
