The Centre has mandated an investigation into the death of a 26-year-old chartered accountant who was employed by Ernst & Young (EY), purportedly as a result of stress at work.
"Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Anna Sebastian Perayil. A thorough investigation into the allegations of an unsafe and exploitative work environment is underway. We are committed to ensuring justice & @LabourMinistry has officially taken up the complaint. @mansukhmandviya," Minister of State for Labour Shobha Karandlaje said in a post on X.
Seeing the angst of people on social media seeking justice for Anna's demise the Union Labour Ministry announced on Thursday that it had received a complaint and would be looking into the events leading up to Anna Sebastian Perayil's passing.
And this isn't it, even BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar, in a post on X, demanded an investigation into the allegations made by the deceased's mother. "This is very sad but also disturbing at many levels. I rqst Govt of India @mansukhmandviya @ShobhaBJP to investigate these allegations made by the mother of unsafe and exploitative work environment that claimed the life of young , full of future Anna Sebastian Perayil," Chandrasekhar wrote on X.
