A lawsuit has been filed agains Intel by a former employee. Under the alias John Doe, the worker claimed that he was wrongly fired for reporting to a senior executive he reported to about antisemitic behaviour and sympathy for terrorism.
The case, filed in a federal court in Manhattan, alleges that Doe, an engineering vice-president, was let go on April 2 as part of a cost-cutting strategy, according to Intel.
Doe, however, maintains that his dismissal was motivated by revenge because it happened only two months after he was moved to directly report to Intel's vice-president of customer success, Alaa Badr.
In addition, the lawsuit names Badr's supervisor as a defendant in light of the allegations that he participated in these activities. Doe claims that his replacement at Intel also publicly voiced anti-Israel views, which strengthened his suspicion that his dismissal was a punitive move rather than a cost-cutting measure motivated by his objections.
On the case, Intel has not yet made a formal statement. It did, however, highlight its long-standing tradition of diversity and inclusivity and declare that it will not stand for any form of hate speech.
