Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has defied industry trends by adding 5,452 employees in the first quarter of FY25, bringing its total workforce to 606,998. This net increase is notable at a time when many IT services companies are slowing their hiring.
Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer, credited the net headcount growth to TCS’s ongoing commitment to employee engagement and development, which has resulted in industry-leading retention rates and strong business performance.
“I am delighted to announce the successful completion of our annual increment process. Our continuous focus on employee engagement and development has led to industry-leading retention and robust business performance, making the net headcount addition particularly gratifying,” said Lakkad.
The company’s attrition rate in IT services continued to decline, reaching a low of 12.1 per cent over the past twelve months. TCS is also proud of its diverse workforce, with women making up 35.5 per cent of employees and representation from 151 nationalities worldwide.
TCS’s emphasis on continuous learning is evident, with employees logging 11 million learning hours and acquiring 1.2 million competencies during the quarter. This focus on upskilling and reskilling is essential in an industry characterised by rapid technological changes.
As TCS navigates a complex global environment, its focus on talent management, employee development, and fostering a diverse and skilled workforce will be crucial for its continued success.
