With 1,012 robots per 10,000 workers, South Korea is now the world's top adopter of industrial robots, having replaced almost 10% of its workforce with robotics.
With a 5% yearly rise since 2018, South Korea's robot density is more than double that of the other nations featured in the report in 2023, with the exception of Singapore, according to the International Federation of Robotics' (IFR) World Robotics 2024 report.
With 770 robots per 10,000 workers, Singapore ranks second in the world. The Lion City has achieved a high robot density with a comparatively limited operating stock, which is remarkable considering that the nation is small and has very few workers in the manufacturing sector.
In the meantime, China moved up to third place in 2023, surpassing both Japan and Germany. The nation has increased its robot density in just four years and promoted the usage of automation technology. At the moment, there are 470 robots for every 10,000 workers.
Germany and Japan have 429 and 419 robots per 10,000 workers, respectively, placing them fourth and fifth.
