Samir Kumar To Head Amazon India As Its New Country Manager

This leadership transition, announced by Amit Agarwal, Amazon’s Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets

Amazon’s 25-year veteran Samir Kumar will now take on the responsibility of leading Amazon India as its Country Manager, in addition to overseeing Amazon’s consumer businesses across the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey. Samir, who joined Amazon in 1999 and was part of the core team that launched Amazon.in in 2013, will now oversee the India consumer business as Manish Tiwary, the current Country Manager, has decided to explore an opportunity outside the company.

This leadership transition, announced by Amit Agarwal, Amazon’s Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets, signals a significant shift in Amazon India’s leadership structure. The existing Amazon.in leadership team—Saurabh Srivastava (Categories), Harsh Goyal (Everyday Essentials), Amit Nanda (Marketplace), and Aastha Jain (Growth Initiatives)—will now report to Samir. Additionally, Kishore Thota (Emerging Markets Shopping Experience) will report directly to Amit Nanda.

Samir Kumar will work closely with Manish Tiwary during the transition period, ensuring a smooth and strategic shift as Manish, the current Country Manager for Amazon India, explores new opportunities outside the company. This collaboration reflects Amazon's focus on maintaining leadership continuity during this important transition.
