Microsoft is reportedly laying off 1900 employees at Activision Blizzard and Xbox.
In an internal memo courtesy The Verge, Microsoft gaming CEO has confirmed the layoffs stating that the move is in line with bringing alignment in terms of the overall strategy and the company's cost structure.
As part of this process, the company has decided to reduce the size of the gaming workforce by approximately 1900 roles out of the 22,000 people on the team.
"The Gaming Leadership Team and I are committed to navigating this process as thoughtfully as possible. The people who are directly impacted by these reductions have all played an important part in the success of Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax and the Xbox teams, and they should be proud of everything they’ve accomplished here, said Phil.
The gaming division will provide full support to those who are impacted during the transition, including severance benefits informed by local employment laws. Those whose roles will be impacted will be notified in due course as per the internal memo shared with the employees.
