The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) is preparing to fill 4,108 assistant professor vacancies across 13 state colleges, with the recruitment interviews commencing soon. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the teacher shortage in Bihar's institutions. Officially, the recruitment interview process will start on 24 May, focusing on 4,108 positions, including 755 backlog vacancies, across various subjects. The Commission will announce the interview dates following approval from the Patna High Court for the reinstatement process.
According to media reports, BSUSC Chairman Prof. Girish Kumar Chaudhary has stated that the goal is to complete the reinstatement process between 24 May and December 2024. The interviews will be conducted in phases to facilitate the appointment of teachers to universities. Chaudhary emphasised the need for subject-matter experts under the new education programme, suggesting that this reinstatement will address much of the current teaching gap.
The subject-wise vacancies include 333 positions for Botany, 332 for Chemistry, 300 for Physics, 424 for Psychology, 316 for History, 285 for Zoology, 261 for Mathematics, 268 for Economics, 253 for English, 280 for Political Science, 104 for Environmental Science, 112 for Commerce, 142 for Geography, 153 for Philosophy, 108 for Sociology, and 100 for Urdu. Additionally, there are 83 vacancies for Home Science, 43 for Maithili, 76 for Sanskrit, 28 for Bengali, 23 for Music, 55 for AIH&C, 10 for Pedagogy, 5 for Biochemistry, and 1 for Nepali Language.
