In a major development for India's employment sector, Apple, the US-based technology giant, has announced plans to create 6,00,000 jobs in the country by the end of this fiscal year. According to media reports, Apple is set to generate approximately 2,00,000 direct jobs within this timeframe, with women expected to comprise over 70 per cent of the new workforce.
Additionally, reports indicate that each direct job at Apple could lead to the creation of three indirect jobs, potentially resulting in a total of 5,00,000 to 6,00,000 new positions overall.
This news follows the announcement by Apple's iPhone supplier, Foxconn, in September of last year, which outlined its intention to create more than 50,000 jobs in India by 2025. These initiatives are part of Apple's larger strategy to enhance its manufacturing and operational presence in India, underscoring the company's growing commitment to the region.
