Airtable, a low-code software business, announced its second wave of layoffs in nine months, cutting off around 237 individuals, or nearly 27 per cent of the company.
The layoffs are part of a plan to focus the company on winning large enterprise clients and controlling spending, according to CEO Howie Liu, who first reported the layoffs. They come on the heels of 254 job layoffs made by the corporation in December 2022.
The company will be cash-flow positive following this round of layoffs, according to Liu, who added that the cuts were the result of a business slump following the company's era of hypergrowth during the epidemic.
The app is a cloud-based relational database that looks like a spreadsheet and can be used to analyse data as well as plan and collaborate on projects by nontechnical professionals.
Airtable presently has six offices across the world, and the layoffs will be company-wide, with the product and sales teams bearing the brunt of the burden.
