Power Sector Luminary T S Sethurathnam Passes At 95
T S Sethurathnam, a renowned national institutional builder and pillar of the power sector, aged 95, passed away on the night of 10 January at his son S Ravi's apartment in Saket, New Delhi. Sethurathnam, who would have turned 96 on 11 April, had been engaged in his professional pursuits until the late 1980s. Surrounded by his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandkids, Abhishek, Ravi, Akshay, and Chinmay, he breathed his last peacefully after battling old age infirmities, with his wife, Shakuntala Sethurathnam, at his side.
T S Sethurathnam was a power industry luminary who served as chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board and the BSES. His contributions went beyond these duties, as he held several posts and directorships. With an impressive portfolio of over 70 arbitrations, he helped shape India's power environment. Sethurathnam's influence spread to the highest levels of government, where he actively participated in crucial committees, including the first privatisation committee for the power sector.
