The Kerala government has announced a festive bonus of Rs 4,000 for its employees ahead of Onam, as confirmed by Finance Minister K N Balagopal on Friday.
Employees who are not eligible for the bonus will receive a special festival allowance of Rs 2,750, while service pensioners and contributory pension scheme beneficiaries will be entitled to Rs 1,000 as a special allowance for the festival.
In addition, all government employees will have access to a festival advance of Rs 20,000. Part-time and contingent workers are eligible for a Rs 6,000 salary advance.
This financial support will benefit more than 13 lakh government staff and workers in the state. Despite ongoing financial constraints, Balagopal emphasised the government's commitment to providing the allowances, attributing the challenges to the Central government's fiscal policies.
