Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the launch of a new centre in Boniyar, Baramulla, an aspirational district of Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with REACHA, Tata STRIVE, and the Indian Army. This comprehensive programme aims to empower the youth and meet the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the region.
Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President – Human Resources at IHCL, stated, "The surge in tourism in Jammu and Kashmir has significantly increased the need for a skilled workforce in the hospitality sector. We are thrilled to expand our existing partnership with REACHA through this project. Aligned with IHCL’s ESG+ framework, Paathya, this program aims to enhance employability by providing young individuals with industry-relevant skills, contributing to the region's social and economic development.”
The state-of-the-art skill centre in Boniyar is equipped to train 200 learners annually. The job-oriented training programme emphasises holistic professional development, offering market-relevant hospitality training in areas such as ‘Bakery’ and ‘Food and Beverage Service’. Participants will gain technical skills as well as valuable life skills, empowering them to make a positive impact on their communities. Upon completing the course, learners will receive assistance for employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.
