A viral post on Threads has ignited a debate about toxic managers and the impact of resignations in the workplace. The post features a screenshot of a message from a boss reacting strongly to the resignation of three employees. In the message, the boss labels their resignations as "outrageous" and accuses the employees of being "selfish," despite claiming the company offers "fair wages."
The caption accompanying the post reads, “Nothing says you have to give notice. He must not understand that,” suggesting the boss’s lack of understanding of resignation norms. This post quickly gained traction, leading others to share their own experiences with difficult bosses.
One commenter shared, “I gave a month's notice to my boss in Florida, and she told me I couldn't leave until they found my replacement. She was out for two weeks. I had to go to my GM to tell him I was leaving on the day I said, and he agreed.” Another added, “People don't quit jobs, they quit bosses. This man doesn’t see he is the problem. I quit my last job with a week and a half notice, and they told me to make that my last day—so I did. They aren’t going to back you, and you don’t have to back them.”
