The State Health Society of Bihar is inviting applications for 4,500 Community Health Officer (CHO) positions on a contractual basis under the National Health Mission. Selected candidates will lead healthcare teams at Health Sub-Centres and Health and Wellness Centres, implementing various public health programmes.
The application process began on 1 November and will close on 21 November. Interested and eligible candidates can apply through the official website of the health department.
Applicants must hold a B.Sc (Nursing) degree from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council or the State Nursing Council and have completed a six-month Certificate Course in Community Health (CCH) from the academic year 2020 onwards. Alternatively, candidates with a Post Basic B.Sc Nursing degree or General Nurse and Midwifery (GNM) qualification who have completed the CCH course through IGNOU or other recognised State Public Health/Medical Universities are also eligible.
The appointed CHOs will receive a monthly salary of Rs 40,000, comprising a fixed salary of Rs 32,000 and an additional performance-linked incentive of Rs 8,000, based on health indicators.
This recruitment initiative aims to enhance the implementation of public health initiatives across the state, strengthening primary healthcare services.
