BetterPlace, Asia's largest SaaS and horizontal platform for frontline workforce management, signs an MOU with the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Under this partnership, BetterPlace aims to upskill and prepare over 100,000 frontline workers for employment by 2025, with at least 25 per cent of them being women.
According to a survey by CIIE.CO, over 52 per cent of frontline workers face challenges in upskilling and finding new job opportunities. This lack of upskilling opportunities can have significant long-term implications for the economy, resulting in the underutilisation of human capital in India. However, by providing upskilling opportunities, frontline workers can not only increase their employability but also enhance their earning potential by acquiring relevant and updated skills that command higher wages.
Pravin Agarwala, Group CEO & Co-founder, BetterPlace commented, “Our core priority since day zero has been to improve opportunities, increase the employee competencies and widen the work horizons for frontline workforce in India. We are thrilled to further this vision with the UP Government and work collectively under a four-step approach of identifying the skill gaps, tailoring comprehensive training programmes to address the same, evaluating the effectiveness of the programme, and assisting with job placements for the programme participants. Personally, I believe that by upgrading themselves with the current and future job needs via holistic initiatives like this, more and more frontline workers will be able to become empowered providers for their families, and in turn benefit from the overall development happening in India.”
As part of the alignment, BetterPlace will offer access to a digital learning platform where workers can undergo training and upskilling. Additionally, there will be a focus on promoting gender diversity by creating tailored content to facilitate the upskilling of women workers.
M. Devraj, Principal Secretary, Vocational Education and Skill Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said “This initiative is poised to chart out the economic development of Uttar Pradesh by supplying a pool of skilled individuals who can meet the demands of various industries and is part of the roadmap to make Uttar Pradesh a trillion-dollar economy. Partnering with an industry leader like BetterPlace for this, will only enable us to accelerate our journey towards eventually making all our citizens upskilled and job-ready.”
