Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has introduced a new insurance scheme that provides life and disability coverage to state government employees, completely free of charge. Under this policy, employees will receive Rs 10 lakh in life insurance, with coverage increasing to Rs 1 crore in the event of accidental death. Those who suffer total disability will also be eligible for Rs 1 crore, while those with partial disabilities will be compensated with Rs 80 lakh.
This new scheme is an additional benefit to the existing entitlements for Assam's government workers. The Assam Cabinet has approved the plan, aiming to improve financial protection for employees and their families in case of unfortunate events.
A significant advantage of this scheme is that employees won’t need to pay any premiums. The government is partnering with the State Bank of India and other commercial banks, where employees hold salary accounts, to manage the policy and ensure seamless coverage.
Key Benefits:
The scheme offers a hassle-free process for employees, who automatically qualify for the coverage without needing to submit any applications. It provides peace of mind, safeguarding workers and their families from the financial impact of accidents, disabilities, or death.
