Amazon US Staff Irate Over 3-Day Work Week

According to a media report, employees at Amazon US are irate after receiving an email requesting them to spend at least three days a week working at the office. The staff who were reportedly failing to satisfy this new attendance standard, which was put into effect in May, were the focus of the email, which was sent out on Wednesday.

Because it was also sent out to the employees who were meeting the attendance requirements, the report indicates that several Amazon employees were incensed. Notably, in May, Amazon US employees staged a walkout in opposition to the company's effort to resume in-office work.

The email has drawn a range of responses from the staff. One Amazon employee questioned whether the email was intended as a threat, and another referred to it as "peak absurdity." Some claimed that the employees who were receiving the warnings were actually following the attendance policy. There were also worries expressed about probable layoffs and more stringent attendance guidelines.

Some staff members even suggested that these attendance alerts might be the result of a system technical issue. Amazon replied and clarified that the email was sent to staff members who had failed to badge into their designated office for fewer than three days each week for five or more of the previous eight weeks or who had fallen short of the three-day requirement for three or more of the previous four weeks despite their building being ready.

The business acknowledged the potential for errors in issuing these warnings and urged staff members who unintentionally got them to speak with their superiors for assistance.

This is really a small component of Amazon's larger effort to encourage workers to return to the workplace. According to reports, some Amazon managers have given their staff members the choice of moving to a central "hub" or quitting the company altogether.
