In today's competitive business landscape, the success of a brand heavily depends on having the right people in place.
Similar is the belief of the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. Even though she is tied up in myriad of things, apart from fulfilling a mother duty, but she takes out time to interview and hire the correct set of people for her brand.
According to Thapar, peer recommendations work more than merely going to an agency. Once the candidate has been reviewed & liked by her team, the final interview is scheduled with Thapar.
Asking these 5 questions, helps her in analysing if the person is a right fit for her brand or not, since its important for her to know if she is investing in a right talent or not!
1. “Thank you for meeting me. I hope your day is going well ?”
(In first 2-3 min I get a sense of the body language & energy of the person. No matter how nervous they may be, positive people look you in the eye & smile a lot, they exude a certain warmth that I look for.)
2. You have an impressive resume & my team has raved about your technical expertise & accolades. I would love to hear about any setback you have had in an otherwise brilliant career & how did you deal with it?
3. What do you like doing outside of work ? Maybe an example of an outside work meeting or hobby that helped you at work ?” I love curious people who believe in lateral thinking & connecting the dots.
4. I didn’t understand. Could you give another example or be more specific around any research or interaction with your consumer that changed your product strategy ?”
5. This is as much as a chance for you to interview me as you will be committing a lot of your time to my vision. Would you like to ask any questions about Emcure? "
“Between my day job at Emcure, Shark Tank, my academy, podcast & being a mom, I don’t always have time but I always make the time for interviews as hiring the right people & being a mentor to them is my # 1 priority as a leader,” states Thapar.
