In today’s hard-hitting times, it’s imperative for leaders to implement multifaceted approach which encourages growth. “I foster a learning culture by encouraging curiosity, letting the team ask questions and experiment with new ideas. I ensure that such relevant programmes are handpicked by me and upon successful completion of the same by my teammates, I also acknowledge and reward employees who take initiatives to learn new skills,” states Raj Mohan C, Director – IT Services Delivery Leader, Kyndryl India.

Leadership doesn’t come handy to all, as it encompasses a range of activities including setting vision and goals, developing strategies, making decisions and managing resources effectively. Leaders at all levels contribute to shaping the direction and success of the organisation.

Mohan suggests some effective strategies through which technology can be leveraged to enhance productivity and efficiency within the teams or organisation, such as MS teams, Outlook for seamless communication and automation for day-to-day activities, artificial intelligence-based tools like co-pilot which support daily routine tasks, chat bots for effectively handling customer tasks and machine learning algorithms for optimising operations.

“It’s important to strategically leverage these technologies or what is relevant to your organisation which can significantly enhance your productivity and efficiency.”

Further, it is even important that team remains agile and adaptable in the face of technological advancements and industry changes. Technological advancement and industry changes require continuous learning and flexibility with proactive planning. It’s important for a leader to have a clear vision that embraces innovation. Leadership is a dynamic and multifaceted process that requires a strategic approach and a commitment to continuous improvement. By focussing on key components such as vision setting, leadership development, effective communication and ethical practices, organisations can cultivate strong leadership that drives success and fosters a positive, resilient and innovative work environment.

“I also maintain transparency with my team and discuss any changes to strategy while I seek their inputs. At Kyndryl, we encourage, fail, get up and move on faster. Being flexible is also important so leveraging diverse skills from cross functions helps me promote a flat hierarchy. My approach has always been to remain resilient, think forward and embrace changes together as a team,” explains Mohan.

While inspiring the aspiring leaders, Mohan suggests, “I would suggest to embrace lifelong learning and build resilience. Always learn from your setbacks and make it an opportunity to grow.  Pick up new challenges and work with passion.”
