India's Zee Entertainment Enterprises announced on Tuesday that Chief Financial Officer Rohit Gupta has resigned for personal reasons. Mukund Galgali, a long-time company veteran and the current head of Zee's commercial and strategic initiatives, has been appointed as the acting CFO, effective from Wednesday. Gupta had been with the broadcaster for nearly six years.
Galgali, who has been with Zee for 17 years, will take over amid a period of significant leadership changes at the company. In recent months, several high-profile executives have left, including Rahul Johri, President of Business for South Asia; Nitin Mittal, President of Technology and Data; and Punit Misra, President of Content and International Markets, among others.
Previously, MD and CEO Punit Goenka had outlined a strategic plan aimed at improving margins in the coming quarters. This plan emphasises frugality, optimisation, and a strong focus on high-quality content. During the Q4 FY24 earnings call, Goenka stressed the importance of maintaining a balanced cost structure to ensure sustained long-term growth.
