At a time when leading tech companies in India and abroad are pitching hybrid model of working to its employees, excerpts from TCS Annual Report have revealed the tech company saw an unusual trend with women employees resigning in high numbers in FY 23.
Putting things in context, the same report goes on to say that women's attrition at TCS has been historically lower than men's attrition.
There might be other reasons but intuitively, I would think working from home during the pandemic reset the domestic arrangements for some women, keeping them from returning to office even after everything normalised,” Milind Lakkad, Chief human resources officer at TCS.
“The higher attrition among women in FY 2023 is a setback to our efforts to promote gender diversity but we are doubling down on it. Focused leadership development programs like iExcel are driving tremendous change, he added.”
For the unversed, TCS iExcel is a 10-day leadership development program for emerging women leaders at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
What new policies and procedures will the company adopt to curb the trend in the new normal, time will tell.
