Winning Stroke: Interview with Dushyant Sinha, Founder, ICCPL Group

If not in the current profession, you would be?

I would have been into defense services as had already qualified for it but due to some reasons couldn’t pursue it.

One tune you always hum.

‘Eye of the tiger..’, it’s very motivating and puts you back in the right frame of mind if you are feeling down.

One book to read when you want to motivate yourself.

‘Men of Steel’ by Vir Sanghvi. A must-read for all entrepreneurs.

One dialogue of a movie that motivates you or you like the most.

This will be quite a cliche, dialogue from movie Deewar (1975), ‘main aaj bhi pheke huye paise nahi leta’..without going in the literal meaning, it speaks volumes about having self-respect and valuing what you do which obviously should not always be about money.

The place you never been to and always want to go.

Not much as such, though London is my favorite city and I can travel to the city umpteen times.

An animal that signifies you & why?

I am heavily influenced by the creature Lion. It has a certain demeanor that Influences me. He is not just the leader of the pack always but also looks like a leader!

A Movie Character you most resemble or resonate with

Rocky Balboa’ series played by Sylvester Stallone. It’s a very motivational story of a boxer who grows from rags to riches.

If your life was to be turned into a movie who would you like to play your part?

Sylvester Stallone or Dev Anand. Sheer power or sheer style.

Luck or Hard Work, what do you think weighs more in defining a successful person?

- I personally don’t believe in luck, I am a sheer believer of Hard Work. There is no replacement for hard work hence no point waiting for your luck to help yourself. Work hard and be responsible for your successes or failures.

One best decision you ever made.

- My best decision was to venture out on my own when I was just 26. I was doing very well in my job and I still left it. Today I am not just generating employment but also being able to train my team to be good team players and to be good human beings. I am able to influence hundreds of lives every day. Which itself is a big motivation for me to keep going.

A strategy that you always use to take your decisions in Personal or Professional life.

If it’s right it’s right, don’t worry about immediate results. The end result is not which immediately follows but which eventually follows at the end.

Whose advice do you seek when in a dilemma?

Professionally I talk to my wife, Ambika, at times, she has been my best critic and gives unbiased replies. Which might at times irk me but eventually is the right word for me.

What has been your biggest achievement?

Making my parents feel proud when they see me winning awards as an entrepreneur. This is the biggest achievement for me in life, rest all are just materialistic achievements.

One thing that you want to change in yourself.

Hmmm...time management.

A line said by your close one that you never forget?

‘Keep yourself standing in the market, one day it will be your time’..spoken by one of my close friends who was much senior to me when I had just started.
