Vinesh Phogat To Contest For Elections Soon, Hence Resigned From The Railways Job

"Sir, keeping in view of my family circumstances/personal reasons, I am unable to perform my duties as OSD/sports. Therefore without any pressure, I wish to tender my resignation," said Vinesh Phogat

Amidst rumours that she will be joining the Congress party, former Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat announced her resignation from Indian Railways on Friday, claiming personal reasons. "Working for Indian Railways has been an amazing and fulfilling experience for me," she said on X beside a photo of her letter of resignation. She worked for Northern Railways as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

Following her meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi earlier this week, there was much conjecture that the wrestler would join the party and run in the Haryana assembly elections next month. "At this point in my life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent authorities of the Indian Railways," she said.

I will always be grateful to the Indian Railway family for this opportunity given to me by the Railways in the service of the nation," she added.

Her letter said, "Sir, keeping in view of my family circumstances/personal reasons, I am unable to perform my duties as OSD/sports. Therefore without any pressure, I wish to tender my resignation," she said.

Vinesh requested for her resignation to be accepted with immediate effect.

Further, she also requested to also credit her one month's salary in lieu of her notice period.
