Uber & Lyft To Pay $328 Million To Settle Wage Theft

Uber and Lyft will pay a total of $328 million to settle wage theft charges in New York, declared Attorney General Letitia James on Thursday.

The settlements, according to James, end investigations into the companies unfairly charging drivers sales taxes and other expenses that should have been paid by customers.

Lyft will pay $38 million, while Uber will pay $290 million. She stated that the funds would be allocated to current and previous drivers. The companies have also agreed to provide paid sick leave to drivers outside of New York City and to pay a minimum wage of $26 per hour to drivers outside of New York City.
