Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is altering its promotion strategy to align with the recently implemented return-to-office mandate. The corporation has informed its teams that the assignment of grades, a critical aspect in promotions, will be dependent on employees' track records of sticking to the office return instruction.
TCS is now offering digital compensation to freshers who have completed designated courses, allowing them to earn higher wages than the yearly Rs 3 lakh compensation level.
This move comes as TCS is reportedly compelling staff to return to the office for the whole workweek, terminating remote work options for certain teams.
Furthermore, staff are urged to report to their allotted offices rather than sites closer to home. Despite requests for clarification, TCS has not reacted to media questions about this topic at the time of publishing.
This decision by TCS demonstrates the company's commitment to a more traditional in-office work style. It aligns promotions, salary increases, and variable pay with the return-to-work mandate, indicating a strategic shift towards a more centralised and uniform workplace.
