Swiggy delivery workers in Mumbai went on strike for the third day on Tuesday owing to a change in compensation, creating delays and outages in numerous sections of the city, according to media sources.
Swiggy riders have been protesting recent modifications to their rate cards and an increase in delivery radius. Employees who deliver orders on Swiggy are referred to as gig workers because they are paid per order and are not employees of the firm.
Workers from the Rashtriya Karmachari Sena in Bandra launched the protests, but other organisations immediately joined in, resulting in intermittent rallies around Mumbai, a critical market for Swiggy.
According to sources, delivery executives claim their base salary remains at Rs 20 although their delivery radius has risen from 4 km to 6 km.
Delivery executives' total compensation comprises basic salary as well as additional sums to account for travel expenses and other factors.
Due to the protests, many Swiggy app users in the city have reported problems with their orders.
