Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed Sandeep Dutta as its new President for India and South Asia. This announcement comes nearly a year after the departure of interim country head Vaishali Kasture. The appointment was confirmed by Jaime Valles, Vice President of Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) for AWS Global Sales, via a LinkedIn post on 4 November.
Dutta, formerly the business lead at Accenture India, brings over two decades of experience in IT services, particularly in driving large-scale business transformations. His deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the Indian market positions him as a thought leader in disruptive technologies.
Jaime Valles expressed confidence in Dutta’s leadership, emphasizing his strategic vision and ability to help clients harness cloud technology to drive digital innovation and address India's most significant challenges and ambitions.
Dutta's appointment comes at a pivotal time as AWS is channeling a substantial $12.7 billion (approximately Rs 1,05,600 crore) investment into building data centers and infrastructure across India by 2030. This initiative is anticipated to add $23.3 billion (around Rs 1,94,700 crore) to India’s GDP annually and create over 131,700 full-time equivalent jobs.
