At the Regional Industry Conclave (RIC) held in Gwalior on Wednesday, the Adani Group announced plans to invest Rs 3,500 crore in the region. The group intends to establish significant facilities, including a cement plant in Guna, a defence systems factory in Shivpuri, and a women-operated jacket manufacturing unit in Badarwas.
The conclave saw the state government receiving investment proposals totaling Rs 8,000 crore, expected to generate approximately 35,000 jobs.
In a press conference following the conclave, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasised the state's commitment to fostering balanced industrial development across all regions through the RIC. He highlighted the success of the Gwalior Conclave following similar events in Ujjain and Jabalpur, underscoring the progress toward the state's industrial goals. The CM also announced that upcoming RICs will be held in Sagar and Rewa districts in September and October, respectively.
Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ, expressed pride in unveiling two additional projects: a 2 million-tonne cement grinding unit in Guna and a state-of-the-art propelling unit in Shivpuri. These projects will contribute Rs 3,500 crore in investment and are expected to create over 3500 direct and indirect jobs.
The Chief Minister also mentioned discussions with Vivek Taneja, Vice President of Reliance Bio Energy, regarding the potential for renewable energy production in the Chambal ravines. The state government assured its full support for such ventures on non-agricultural land.
Other notable investment proposals at the conclave included Elixir Industries (Rs 1,000 crore), SSG Furnishing Solutions (Rs 750 crore), Marvel Vinyl (Rs 620 crore), and Jamna Auto (Rs 532 crore). During the event, the CM issued letters of intent to 120 units, which will be allocated 268 acres for development, leading to an investment of Rs 1,700 crore and the creation of approximately 7,000 jobs.
Additionally, 19 MSME units committed to investing Rs 265 crore, promising employment for around 1,000 people. The conclave attracted approximately 4,000 delegates, including 15 international participants, and featured prominent leaders such as Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar.
