In an office memorandum issued on Wednesday, the health ministry approved the inclusion of parents or parent-in-law of male central government employees as beneficiaries under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), subject to dependence and residence.
The government has allowed both male and female central government employees to include either their parents or their in-laws for benefits under CGHS. Under the scheme, the employees can avail of outpatient facilities as well as OPD and in-patient facilities at dispensaries and central government hospitals at subsidised rates.
The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a comprehensive healthcare program launched by the Indian government to provide quality medical services to its employees, retirees, and dependents.
Beneficiaries are eligible for medical treatment in government and privately impanelled hospitals, as well as access to critical drugs and diagnostic services under this scheme.
