No Perfect Medicine for Loyalty; hacks for healthy employee engagement

There is no ‘Perfect Medicine’ which can make employees happy or stay loyal to your organization. With Millennials being a larger chunk of our work force, our endeavor is to keep them actively engaged. They are ambitious & crave instant gratification. It is with this vision at Columbia Asia, we try to approach Employee engagement, holistically.

I can broadly categorize our strategy into the following:

1. Physical Wellness includes initiatives like :

Employee Health Check, Free health check coupons for Family members, Yoga Classes, Self Defense Classes, various Cycling groups & Runner’s group

2. Emotional Wellness includes initiatives like :

Insurance benefits & Counselling, Meditation, Skip level lunch meetings with Head of the hospitals, awareness to POSH

3. Financial Wellness includes initiatives like :

Wealth Management Workshop, Tax planning workshop.

4. Social Wellness includes initiatives like :

Buddy & Mentor programs, Rewards &Recognition platform, Departmental / Team outings & CSR activities. Fun activities at work, Town hall for employees, Women’s leadership forums. Our end-to-end online social recognition and rewards platform has helped our employees to aspire to stay in the spotlight. We have regular activities which engage all staff including clinical & non clinical employees.

5. Intellectual Wellness includes initiatives like :

Continuous Educational Programs (Medical & non-Medical), Opportunity to study &works imultaneously, Open communication forums like GM’s Meet, Departmental Communication Cascade and so on.

Right from the on boarding to exit, we go the extra mile to ensure that employees are engaged and retained. A well-trained employee is worth his weight in gold! Apart from the salary, today’s employees look at up skilling and enhancing their capabilities while at work. This ensures a longer stint and better engaged employees.

Why is employee engagement important?

Most studies conducted in recent times on employee engagement show common results: that engaged employeesout-perform non-engaged ones and that the engaged employees are positive, more satisfied, they communicate better with people around them, and most importantly they are creative and bring new ideas to the workplace.

We are committed to understand what the employees have to say about us.

There are various mediums such as:

- Bright ideas forum that encourages brilliant ideas to take shape

- Skip level Lunch meet with the Hospital head

- Instant recognition

- Annual Employee Engagement Survey

- Regular publishing of the monthly performance indicators
