Nike, ESPN, and ING Bank Announces Major Layoffs

According to the sources; 1000 employees will be laid off by 2021 by Dutch Bank, ING and it will close its offices in South America and Asia. Nike also plans to slash 700 jobs at its world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon US by 8 January next year. On the other hand, 300 jobs will be slashed by ESPN, multinational basic cable sports channel and it also reveals that it has no plans to fill 200 already existing vacancies.

Globally ESPN has 6000 employees out of which 4000 work out of it headquarter in Bristol, Connecticut, US. It has been a bad year for sports television because Live sport events are being cancelled for a long time due to covid-19.The company realizes the need to focus on direct to consumer business strategy, digital and invent new and advanced television experience.

Netherlands leading Bank, ING employs 53,000 people across 40 Nations. It now plans to focus on your clients and simplify operations geographically.

Back in July Nike also disclosed that it will lay off 500 employees and will shut its childcare facilities. As for Nike operation in India it is still not clear whether its corporate office will function in India or move to Singapore.
