Days before the Rakhi celebration, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan increased the financial assistance granted to women under the Ladli Behna Scheme from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,250 per month on 27 August, according to a media report.
Apart from this, the MP CM also declared 35 per cent reservation for them in government posts and said cooking gas cylinders will be distributed to women at ₹450 in August to honor 'Sawan'.
In the holy month of Sawan, women will receive cooking gas at 450. In the future, a permanent system will be developed in this regard. I've also transferred Rs 250 to the accounts of 1.25 crore ladies so that they can enjoy a joyous Rakhi (on Tuesday). The remaining 1,000 (under the Ladli Behna Yojana) will be awarded in September, according to Chouhan.
According to government data, a total of 3,628.85 crore has been distributed as financial aid to eligible women under the Ladli Behna Yojana, which began on 10 June this year.
Women between the ages of 23 and 60 who are not income tax-payers and have an annual family income of less than 2.5 lakh receive Rs 1,000 a month under the scheme.
