A wealthy Chinese woman recently enacted a dramatic form of revenge against the staff at a Louis Vuitton store in Chongqing, after feeling insulted by their dismissive treatment two months prior. The woman, using the alias "Xiaomayouren" on Xiaohongshu, recounted her experience at the StarLight Place shopping center. Despite her affluence, signaled by her Hermes handbag, the staff treated her with condescension.
Infuriated, she lodged a complaint with Louis Vuitton's headquarters but received no response. Determined to make a statement, she returned to the store two months later with 6,00,000 yuan (approximately Rs 68.50 lakh) in cash, accompanied by her assistant and a friend. After trying on several items, she feigned interest in purchasing them.
The staff spent two hours meticulously counting the cash, only for the woman to take back her money and announce, "We don’t want to buy now. We are leaving." The story, shared on Xiaohongshu, quickly went viral, resonating with netizens who applauded her boldness and criticised the arrogance of luxury brand employees. Despite the widespread attention, Louis Vuitton's China office has yet to respond to the incident.
