J.K. Cements: Retired Employees Likely To Escalate The Issue Of Pending Dues

From starvation to uncleared bills for medical expenses, the J.K. Cement retirees have been knocking on the doors of authorities in Srinagar in the absence of any sources of post-retirement income.

The public sector undertaking which was rendered dysfunctional in 2019 due to pilling liabilities to the tune of 300 crores, as per media reports, has been struggling to pay the employees their dues including those who have retired.

The J&K Cements Retired Employees Welfare Association (JKCREWA) representing the aggrieved retired employees has been wanting the intervention of the government in the issue but so far their efforts have not yielded the desired results. Reportedly, the association is contemplating a press conference to voice the rights of the aggrieved retired employees before the PSU floats tenders of disinvestment.

The association, after its meeting in the valley, on May 02 has hinted at escalating the issue in coordination with the other groups if timely interventions from relevant authorities are not made to safeguard the rights of retired employees.
