Java Proficiency Drives Top Salaries For 26% Tech Candidates

India’s technology sector has left no stone unturned, witnessing astounding growth over recent years. In this age of expedited tech implementation and integration, Backend followed by Frontend has emerged as a lucrative career option for both freshers and leadership-level candidates. The report revealed that Java has a popularity of 26.62 per cent among tech candidates and draws the highest average salary for all experience levels. Comparing the most popular backend skills, C++ is the highest-paying skill with an average salary of INR 27.55 LPA, while Python is the second highest with INR 27.01 LPA. 

In the Frontend job function, React.js is the highest-paying skill followed by JavaScript, CSS, HTML, jQuery, and Angular.js. React.js commands an average salary of INR 5.62 LPA for freshers; INR 13.71 LPA for mid-level; INR 28.77 LPA for seniors; and INR 39.35 LPA for leadership positions.

With constant exposure and voluminous piles of data being collected every day, data analytics has seen an unprecedented rise. According to the report, Big Data skills have gained immense popularity as NoSQL takes the limelight with 30.16 per cent of candidates preferring the skill for specialisation. For freshers and mid-level candidates, Redshift leads with the highest average salary of INR 7.84 LPA and INR 14.03 LPA respectively. On the contrary, for those in senior roles and leadership positions, NoSQL commands the highest average salary of INR 28.70 LPA and INR 39.27 LPA, respectively. 

Only continuing to grow further, the world of Data Science has opened new avenues for growth opportunities and development. As per Instahyre’s report, Machine Learning and NLP are huge growth areas for specialisations for DS freshers. On the contrary, 27.99 per cent of tech talent specialising in DS considers Python as the skill worth perfecting. For freshers, NLP starts them off at the highest average salary of INR 7.22 LPA, while Java is the highest average salary netter for mid-level, seniors and leaders, recording the highest package of INR 44.62 LPA.

The report unveils that there is no competition for Linux and AWS when it comes to DevOps popularity, as it is preferred by 12.78 per cent and 12.77 per cent of tech candidates. The Google Cloud Platform has surpassed Azure in popularity. Freshers who start off their careers with a specialisation in OpenStack get INR 6.42 LPA as the highest average salary amongst Maven, Windows, Google Cloud, and others. However, for mid-level, senior and leadership positions, Google Cloud draws the highest average salary of INR 13.67 LPA, INR 28.84 LPA, and INR 41.95 LPA respectively.
