And under their L&D framework, they focus on building Functional Excellence, Managerial Excellence and Leadership Excellence to create impact at an Individual, Team and Organisational level. Accommodating the dynamism of business needs, the organization introduced E-Learning initiatives aimed at enhancing, building & developing a functional capability of employees.
They offer Individual Employee Development Plans firmly anchored on the 70:20:10 principles of learning with a strong focus on in-house learning which they achieve through talent movements across functions, geographies and exposure to global, regional and cross-functional projects. They also offer continuous on-the-job training and ongoing feedback & coaching and specific, functional as well as behavioural learning interventions.
Explaining the cascading of the L&D Strategy across the different levels and functions, the organization mentions that their e-learning initiative, ‘WeLearn’ was sponsored and encouraged by the Leadership with all the learning needs provided/validated for across all levels (Function Heads, Business HR’s, People Leaders, and Target Audience). They also mention effective communication through weekly reports and monthly recognition of outstanding learners
Recognising outstanding learners and a Learning week initiative that collected employee feedback on a public forum from leadership is said to have contributed to the success of the intervention. The company also reports that 70% of the learners had completed 100% of the assignments given to them and that Individual learners clocked in as high as 290 learning hours on their e-learning journey.
Spelling out the results of their initiative, Whirlpool of India states that 82% of the learners applied the learning they received on the job, furthering their operational performance. 57% of the learners were able to deliver better results in their current job and enhance their leadership skills. 90% of the learners involved would like to continue the program and recommend it to others.
