Haryana Workers To Join 'Bharat Bandh' Protest

Haryana government employees and trade unions have confirmed their participation in the nationwide protest known as 'Bharat Bandh', which is slated for 16 February. Protesting farmers, trade unions and government employees are working together to press for a number of demands, including the abolition of the old pension scheme, the formation of an eighth pay commission, the launch of recruitment drives for permanent positions and the regularisation of contractual employees.

Sarv Karmchari Sangh, the government employees' union, has promised its support for the cause. This united front reflects widespread dissatisfaction with government policies and actions across all sections of society.

Sector-specific issues fuel the discontent even further. Haryana Roadways employees, represented by the Haryana Roadways Employees Sanjha Morcha, have expressed dissatisfaction with the government's response to their demands. The central point of their protest is their opposition to additional criminal penalties for hit-and-run cases, wage increases, and the reintroduction of the old pension scheme.

Government employees in the state are not only pushing for their rights, but also for systemic change. They want to dissolve the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam and advocate for regular recruitment drives instead of the current practice of outsourcing through the Nigam. Furthermore, concerns about job security and poor remuneration for contractual employees remain at the top of their list.
