Govt Employees In Puducherry To Hold Rally Against NPS

The Confederation of Puducherry Government Employees’ Association has resolved to hold a protest against the New Pension Scheme (NPS) implementation in Puducherry on February 28, 2024.

The association's general secretary, K. Radhakrishnan, said during a Press conference on Monday, February 26, that the workers would hold a rally from the Swadeshi Cotton Mill complex to voice their disapproval with Puducherry's implementation of NPS.

Following the demonstration, group representatives would urge Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to implement the Old Pension Scheme in a memorandum. Employees are worried about the decision to apply the new plan to individuals hired after January 1, 2004.

He claimed that under the new plan, the pension that accrues is not in line with the cost of living.
