General Motors (GM) workers in Brazil have gone on strike against layoffs.
While GM has justified the decision in a bid to improve cost efficiencies, the workers backed by the support of the workers' union are demanding that the company reverse its decision. The union also seeks a revision in the worker's pay structure including employee benefits and hikes.
While the negotiation is underway between the parties, the strike has halted the operations of the automotive company and it is expected to last at least for a week.
