Gen X employees report the most positive experience of workplace culture

 Great Place To Work has unveiled two comprehensive reports: “India’s Best Companies To Work For 2024” which draws insights from a staggering 5.06 million employees across 1751 organizations and “India's Best Employers Among Nation-Builders 2024”. The report on “India’s Best Companies To Work For 2024” finds that Gen Z employees are significantly more motivated to work when they see management deliver on promises and when they can bring their authentic selves to work. When management delivers on its promises, Gen Z employees are 2.6 times more likely to stay motivated. When they can be their true selves at the workplace, they are 2.8 times more likely to remain motivated. Today, almost one-fifth of the workforce in India is Gen Z, and they come with fresh perspectives and bold expectations that push leaders to evolve.

The report also highlights 85% of Gen X employees report the most positive experience of workplace culture, whereas there is significant room for improvement in culture experience for Gen Z and Millennial employees. Additionally, 83% of male employees report a more positive cultural experience compared to 80%of female employees. The research finds that the psychological and emotional well-being of female employees are primarily driven by specific factors that leaders can target to boost their perception of safety at the workplace.

The report has unveiled organizations in India are performing better than their counterparts in countries like Japan, Germany, and France. However, they still need to catch up with organizations in countries like China and Brazil. Employees in their first two years at an organization report a high cultural experience. However, there is a dip in experience for employees between two to five years of tenure. The upward trend is observed again as employees cross the five-year mark, with the highest tenure employees reporting the most positive workplace culture experience.
