EPFO Adds 16.02 Lakh Members In January

In January, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) saw a net addition of 16.02 lakh members, including 8.08 lakh new additions, as per provisional data.

Notably, 56.41 per cent of new members were aged 18-25, reflecting young entrants into the organised workforce. Female membership rose by 3.03 lakh, indicating a push towards diversity.

Industries like healthcare, finance, manufacturing, marketing and IT observed increased EPFO enrolments. Professional services accounted for 40.71 per cent of new memberships. Around 12.17 lakh members rejoined EPFO after leaving, underscoring the stability it offers.

EPFO began disclosing payroll data from September 2017, considering first-time Aadhaar-authenticated Universal Account Number (UAN) usage, exits, and rejoins for net monthly payroll calculations. Data remains provisional, subject to ongoing updates.
