Whilst the pandemic has, and continues to, take its toll on our mental health, our priorities have shifted and a lot more value is being placed on well-being, health, family and a work-life balance. Employee wellness has been at the forefront of Embassy Group’s culture since their inception. This year, Embassy Group announces various unique initiatives to protect and improve mental well-being for its employees.
The company declares 11 days of Diwali holiday for its employees nationally to switch off from work, spend quality, relaxed time with family and come back rejuvenated.
Gratitude is also a powerful tool to address the workplace mental health environment. It has been shown to impact our emotional, physical, medical, and mental well-being. Studies have shown it can make us feel more optimistic and less aggravated. Gratitude can inspire, engage, and reinforce us. As part of ‘Embassy Achievers’ – The annual Recognition Program recognises and appreciates top performers and service awardees. The Embassy is also organising a ‘Thanksgiving Lunch’ for its support staff ahead of festive season. A grand Diwali party is scheduled for all its employees nationally coming together to celebrate the festivity. Work relationships are equally important for employee well-being. It’s way more than just “getting along” with a co-worker.
Maria Rajesh, CHRO, Embassy Group says, “Employees really need this acknowledgment and appreciation, knowing they are indeed valued and important within the business. Mental health and well-being is something that needs all year-round consideration, however extra focus should be given as we lead up to the festive period. There are so many circumstances for this – increased workload and longer hours to hit end-of-year deadlines, the pressure of balancing work with increased family responsibilities and many more.”
Mental wellness has always been a focus for Embassy, as a part of Embassy cares initiatives. Recently we had launched 'Wellbeing on the Web' for our employees. It is aimed at supporting employee health and fitness through a holistic online platform. The initiative offers employees to access online consultations with a doctor, dietician and mental health expert; consultancy, pharmacy discounts, newsletters, webinars, and games helping keep active and relieve stress.
