Daikin promotes MD& CEO to its global board

Daikin Industries, manufacturer of Air Conditioners has decided to uplift its Indian operation head Kanwaljeet Jawa to its global board. Kanwaljeet Jawa with this will be the first Indian to be part of 10 member board council of $20 Bn Daikin Industries. The future operations of the company will be steered by Japan.

 

“This is a move as per the Daikin corporate governance code, urging us to make boards more open to gender balance and people with international backgrounds" quoted Toshio Nakano, Chairman Daikin Air-conditioning India on confirming the development.

 

Kanwaljeet joined as the COO of Daikin earlier in 2010. He was later promoted as the MD & CEO of the Indian subsidiary.

 

Toshio further added that this approach of Daikin towards the support of boardroom diversity is being supported by the Institutional investors and shareholders of the company, crucial to function global organizations in a border-less world.

 

“Since, 2010 Jawa has been the change agent for Daikin India and thus we are delightful to promote him and confer some additional responsibilities on his shoulders that mirrors Daikin’s vision and goal moving forward” said Nakano.

 

Daikin which was founded in 1924 has over 90 worldwide production bases and its products are sold over the globe in 150 countries. Daikin India has become a full-scale HVAC organization powered by a local R&D facility under the leadership of Kanwaljeet , Japan Institute of Manufacturing Excellence (JIM) with a 40 acre super HVAC manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. Daikin India had a turnover of Rs 3,250 Cr in the FY 2017-18.
