Chipotle uses Discord to attract applicants for job fair; 20,000 vacancies across outlets

Chipotle, an American restaurant chain, has reported having received more than 23,000 job applications through the online chat platform Discord. To allure the applicants, Chipotle announced to elevate the wage from $13 to $15 per hour.

The retailers in the US are struggling to hire workers owing to the tight job market in the country due to the pandemic. Chipotle became the first brand to launch a career fair on Discord. Discord is a group chatting platform initially built for gamers, but now the service is used by all kinds of online communities. The Discord server hosted recruitment content and sessions with Chipotle employees on benefits and career paths.

Chipotle is looking for staff for its 200 new outlets that are to be open this year. They have 20,000 vacant positions across its outlets in various locations.

Keeping the well-being of its employees in focus, Chipotle has launched a new wellness platform aimed at improving the mental health of its staff, in a holistic, proactive, and inclusive manner. To increase the enhancement the platform also focuses on wellness experience and offers them a chance to win gift cards and even save money on health insurance, among other benefits.
