The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) of 78 days' pay for all qualified non-gazetted railway personnel for the fiscal year 2022-23.
Following the decision, railway employees such as track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsman, ministerial staff, and other Group 'C' staff (excluding RPF/RPSF personnel) will benefit.
The Union Government has sanctioned a PLB payment of Rs 1968.87 crore to 11,07,346 railway employees in honour of their outstanding performance. Railways performed admirably in the fiscal year 2022-2023. Railways loaded a record 1509 million tonnes of goods and transported approximately 6.5 billion passengers.
Several reasons led to this outstanding accomplishment. These include infrastructure improvements as a result of the government's record investment in railways, operational efficiency and improved technology, among other things.
The payment of PLB will serve as an incentive for railway personnel to strive harder to enhance their performance.
